I studied biochemical engineering at university, but I have also worked in companies which helped me link what I was taught to what happens in real-life. I’m in a way still training, but I feel engineering is a field which involves constant, life-long learning as everything constantly evolves and changes.

I started my path at the University of Leicester doing a foundation year to allow me to make up for my poor A-level performance. Then I continued at this University to study for an MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

I’m now doing my Doctoral training at the University of Surrey.

Training to be an engineer start for me at college after my GCSE’s, although I was doing lots of engineering style hobbies well before then.

I grew up in Australia, so I went to the University of Sydney where I did Mechatronics (which is mostly robotics). I got a job as a fire engineer during my final year, which was really great. I decided to stick with fire so I did a Masters degree in Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Western Sydney. Then I moved to the UK, where I have kept working as a fire engineer. I’m currently doing a PhD at the University of Greenwich.

I started properly training to be an engineer at university, when I started studying biomedical engineering!
