When I was in Year 7, I wanted to be so many things: dancer, singer, actor, chef, physiotherapist, sports trainer, doctor, voice actor.

I really wanted to work with animals in a zoo and sanctuary. I had a fascination with Ring Tailed Lemurs at the time and desperately wanted to work with them.

When I was in Year 7 I really didn’t know. I knew I liked science, but I didn’t have any idea yet of what jobs you could do that used science. It took me a few years to narrow it down to engineering, and I didn’t decide on fire engineering until after I had finished uni.
The good thing about engineering is that there is a lot of cross-over between some of the different types, so you aren’t stuck. I went from robotics to fire safety and I have really liked both.
