I suppose our measure of fame depends on who you ask.

At the moment I work in Guildford, a city which is well known for it’s University and research facilities. You could google University of Surrey and be linked to some interesting articles relating to the cutting edge research done here. Our research centre is famous among researchers for the people here and what they do, but not necessarily to anyone outside of our specialities.

In terms of popular culture I’m not entirely sure if anyone famous has come from here. We have the Guildford School of Acting and the Academy of Contemporary Music nearby so it wouldn’t surprise me if famous musicians and actors came from here!

In a previous job when I was developing mountain bikes I performed some field testing by strapping a lot of electronic sensors to the bike and having a very talented rider race it down hills in the Nevis range, Scotland, home to the UK’s largest mountain.

I work in a famous hospital now! But not for good reasons. Hospitals are never famous for good reasons.

Maybe not so much famous but well-known place would be GlaxoSmithKline who I’m currently working with. Non engineering wise I’ve also during the London Olympics at the Main Stadium.
